RV burns: Road trip gone bad, for sure!

The title of this video is Road Trip Gone Bad and that certainly seems appropriate. Here's yet another video of an RV burning up. Is it just because of YouTube plus the number of people carrying video cameras today that so many of these "burning RV" clips are showing up? Whatever the reason, this is yet another example of why RVers need to pay close attention to fire prevention and to carry at least one and hopefully more fire hydrants in their RVs.

Well, I'm just curious about a few things:

Where one would place a fire hydrant in one's RV?

If my current RV didn't have said fire hydrant, could it be added after-market?

How big of a water tank would a RV-based fire hydrant require? [smile]

  • I would suggest some other alternative to the fire hydrant, especially when traveling with your dogs. A lawn sprinker might be a better choice. The one with the arm that adjusts to the rectangular interior of the rv of course!

  • Well, to heck with the fire! What about the dogs using the hydrant while you quietly enjoy your afternoon nap?!?

  • I recently had a fire in my motorhome caused by a leak in a non braided rubber hose to the stove. I have since found out non braided hoses cannot be used on stoves in Australia.

Fortunately I was able to put it out with 2 Extinguishers (one wouldn't wouldn't have done it, there's a lesson there!!!)
